The Indian Cricket Team survived a scare from Daryl Mitchell to achieve a fine win over New Zealand on Wednesday. it was an amazing performance with the bat from Virat Kohli and Shreyas Iyer as they helped India post a massive 397 on the board from fifty overs.

Kane Williamson was disappointed as Rohit Sharma won the toss and chose to bat first. The Wankhede Stadium has been a haven for run-scoring in recent times. On Wednesday it was no different as there were more than 700 runs scored during the day. 

The second semi-final of the ODI World Cup will be played on Thursday at the Eden Gardens Stadium in Kolkata. Australia will take on South Africa to determine who plays India in the final of the ODI World Cup 2023 tournament in Ahmedabad.

India reach the ODI World Cup for the third time –

Rohit Sharma wasted no time in taking the attack to the opposition as he went after the Kiwi bowler right from the start. The Indian skipper scored 47 runs in quick time to give the Indian team yet another good start.

After the fall of Rohit Sharma, it was the Shubman Gill and Virat Kohli show as the pair kept the momentum going to take the attack to the Kiwi bowlers. Just when Gill was looking good for a century he had to be retired hurt. 

Virat Kohli was the man of the moment as he scored his 50th ODI century to go past the great Sachin Tendulkar. During his knock of 117, he also scored the most runs by a batter in ODI World Cup history.

Shreyas Iyer scored his second century in successive games as he was out for 106 runs from 70 balls. The 28-year-old hit 8 sixes and 4 fours in his knock while KL Rahul was not out on 39 as India reached 397 on the board.

Chasing 398 to win, Daryl Mitchell scored a career-best 134 runs off 119 balls with 9 fours and 7 sixes. Kane Williamson and Mitchell added 181 runs for the third wicket to keep the Mumbai crowd and Indian team on their toes. 

Mohammed Shami though turned the hero as he recorded the best ODI bowling figures by an Indian bowler. The 33-year-old ended with 7/57 from his 9.5 overs to help India win the game by 70 runs.
