The Netherlands has been having a very good run in the ODI World Cup 2023 till now. The Dutch side made it to the tournament a hard way by beating teams like Scotland and West Indies in the World Cup Qualifiers. With nothing to prove for themselves, the Netherlands is performing extremely well in the tournament and has won a couple of matches already.
In 6 matches in the tournament so far, Netherlands has 2 wins and 4 losses. Considering how the tournament has had some underperforming teams, the winning record of the Netherlands is fabulous. The Dutch side beat South Africa by 38 runs in Dharamshala, which was sensational. Now they have overcome the challenge of Bangladesh, which is impressive as well.
Batting first, the Netherlands posted 229 runs on the board in Kolkata. It was probably a good total on a wicket which was offering turn and bounce for the spinners. The Pacers got good carry. It was very good for the bowlers to bowl. From both the teams, the bowlers shined. The Dutch bowlers were all over Bangladesh, who dismissed Bangladesh for just 142 runs, defending a target of just 230 runs.

Scott Edwards, the Dutch captain, played a key role in the Netherlands' win. In both the games Netherlands have won in the tournament till now, Edwards has been amazing. Against South Africa, Edwards scored an unbeaten 78*(69), which propelled his team to a total of 245 runs, after being reduced to 140/7 at one stage. Against Bangladesh, Edwards scored 68(89), after his team was reduced to 62/4.
Edwards' knock took the Netherlands to a good total, which helped their bowlers to defend against Bangladesh batters. It was the first instance of the Netherlands winning two matches in a single edition of a World Cup. Both of them being a Test playing team makes the achievement a lot more appreciable. After the win, Edwards interacted with fans. One of the fans wanted to share a passionate moment with Edwards. But the Dutch captain respectfully denied it.
