Pakistan Cricket Team is in more trouble ahead of their key clash ODI World Cup 2023 game versus Australia. The two teams are set to meet on Friday in Bengaluru with both teams needing a win.

It is reported that Pakistani players are down with viral infection ahead of the huge game. The Pakistani news reports that several players are under the weather after reaching the southern state of India.

The match on Friday is important for both teams in a bid to make it to the semi-finals of the tournament. Pakistan has played three games so far winning two and losing one to India. Australia meanwhile began their tournament with losses before beating Sri Lanka on Monday.

Several Pakistan players are under the weather –

As per reports from Pakistani Channels, some of the leading players are unwell. It is reported that Usama Mir has been unwell for a few days. This was followed by opener Abdullah Shafique also getting under the weather.

Shaheen Shah Afridi and Zaman Khan are the latest players to have fallen ill. The PCB though has come out and said “Thankfully, there is no viral infection or disease. Those who are in stages of recovery remain under the team’s medical panel’s observation”. 

Yet another source was quoted as saying “Some players got fever in the past few days and most of them have fully recovered from it”. It is believed that Shaheen Shah Afridi and Abdullah Shafique will be fit in time to play Australia.

The Australians will have their tails up just when they are about to face Pakistan in Bengaluru on Friday. After losses to India and South Africa, the five-time champions beat Sri Lanka by 5 wickets on Monday in Lucknow. The winning runs were hit with over 14 overs left to play.

Pakistan meanwhile began with commanding wins over the Netherlands and Sri Lanka. Their game against India saw the Babar Azam-led side collapse and get bowled out for 191 runs.

The Indian team won the game by 7 wickets, after their Australia encounter Pakistan will play in Chennai against Afghanistan. The Afghans had just beaten England by 69 runs in New Delhi to record their first ODI World Cup 2023 win.
