David Miller became the first South African batter to score a century in the knockouts in ODI World Cup history. The South African batter scored 101 runs from 116 balls with 8 fours and 5 sixes to help his side score 212 runs.

Earlier in the day Temba Bavuma won the toss and chose to bat first. The weather in Kolkata was hot and muggy and there was a bit of rain in the air. Both teams made two changes to their playing XI.

Sean Abbott and Marcus Stoinis were replaced by Glenn Maxwell and Mitchell Starc. South Africa had Tabraiz Shamsi and Marco Jansen coming in for Lungi Ngidi and Andile Phelukwayo. The winner of the game will meet India in Ahmedabad on Sunday in the finals.

Batting first South Africa were 22/3 from 11 overs after losing the wickets of Temba Bavuma for a duck, Quinton De Kock for 3, and Aiden Markram for 10. It was soon 24/4 when Rassie Van Der Dussen was out for 6 caught by Steve Smith off Hazlewood.

Heinrich Klaasen and David Miller added 95 runs for the 5th wicket before Klaasen was out for 47 runs. Travis Head got the breakthrough and followed it up by dismissing Marco Jansen for a 1st ball duck.

David Miller though kept going and got to his century with a huge six that went way into the crowd. South Africa were bowled out for 212 in the 50th over with Mitchell Starc and Pat Cummins taking three wickets each. Josh Hazlewood and Travis Head picked two wickets on a pitch which is aiding turn.

The Australians will be wary as they come out to bat during their chase. Keshav Maharaj had bowled well during the game versus India at the same venue. Temba Bavuma would also like to bring on Aiden Markram as a third spinner to support Maharaj and Shamsi.
