Shreyas Iyer claimed a stunning catch to dismiss Devon Conway in the match between India and New Zealand in the ODI World Cup 2023. The Indian fielder's catch helped India to get rid of Conway, who is in good form in the ODI World Cup 2023. The first breakthrough in the match gave an early lead to the Indian team. India bowled very well right from the start.
Opting to bowl first, the Indian pacers were right on the money. Jasprit Bumrah got the ball to swing both ways. The right-arm pacer kept the batters guessing with his lengths and made the best use of the conditions. His line was very accurate as well. The batters had no clue whatsoever about batting against him. It was good to see a fantastic spell of swing bowling.
From the other end, Siraj got the ball to swing away from the right-hander. Both the openers, in the middle, struggled to get going. Siraj bowled tighter lengths and gave no room for the batters. New Zealand batters were guessing the lengths of the Indian bowlers. It was good to see a good spell getting rewarded with the wicket. But it surely belonged to the fielder rather than the bowler.
Shreyas Iyer's stunning diving catch
Iyer grabbed the catch with perfection. Siraj kept the length a bit fuller and targeted the pads of Conway. In an attempt to get going, Conway tried to flick the ball towards the mid-wicket region. Iyer, who was stationed in the region inside the circle, did not have the easiest of chances. But the fielder dived to his right and grabbed it in a sensational way.
Iyer was delighted with his efforts. the celebration in the middle was wild, as India dismissed Conway for a duck. Iyer's catch was great. It was not easy to convert the chance into a reward. But Iyer did and pointed towards attaining the medal, which Indian fielders get in the dressing room for their efforts in the field.
