Indian opener Shubman Gill was all praise for former Indian skipper Virat Kohli after his 50th ODI century on Wednesday. The century came during the 1st-Semi Finals of the ODI World Cup 2023 game versus New Zealand.
Shubman Gill himself scored 80 not out as he came out to bat after retiring hurt due to cramps. This was the third century for Virat Kohli during the ongoing ODI World Cup 2023 campaign. The former Indian skipper had centuries against Bangladesh and South Africa earlier.
The Indian team will now play the finals against either Australia or South Africa on Sunday in Ahmedabad. Team India and its fans can hope that the famed Indian batting unit can live up to its fiery potential and win the title for the 3rd time.
Shubman Gill praises Virat Kohli after his brilliant knock
Indian opener Shubman Gill was addressing the media after India’s 70-run win over New Zealand on Wednesday. The 24-year-old showed huge admiration for Virat Kohli after watching the former Indian skipper create new batting records.
This is what the Indian opener said to the media “Every time he comes out to the park, he does something special. He has been doing it for the last 10-15 years, that’s what is really inspiring,”
Shubman Gill further said “For me, it’s not so much about the skill he has. It’s more about the hunger he has and the intensity with wich he goes out there. That’s more inspiring. And to be able to consistently do that for as long as he has been doing really inspires me”
After the fall of Rohit Sharma for 47, it was Shubman Gill who took the mantle of scoring runs. just when he was looking set for his first ODI World Cup century he had to retire himself out. Gill Said “It started with cramps and then I pulled my hamstring. It was quite humid and these are just the after-effects of dengue,”
The youngster also had words of praise for the vibe the Indian team has been experiencing in recent times. “Feels great. The way we have been batting, bowling and fielding, as a unit it feels great to be a part of the dressing room”
