ODI World Cup 2023.

The ODI World Cup 2023 has been a very good tournament as far as the skill sets of the players are concerned. The individual players have stepped up where it mattered the most and performed for their team. At the biggest cricket stage, some of the best players in the world stood up and gave their best. The best teams in the tournament have had the best performers individually.

Batters have surely dominated the bowlers in the tournament. There have been a lot of runs scored in the tournament. But there have also been some bowlers who have contributed well with the ball. Some of the All-rounders have been very good. India and Australia have been the two best sides in the tournament and have qualified for the final.

Without considering the performances of the players in the final, here are the candidates for the Player of the Tournament in the ODI World Cup 2023.

3. Marco Jansen

Marco Jansen

Marco Jansen has been one of the best All-rounders in the tournament. In his last few matches, Jansen went expensive. But considering his performances in the entire tournament, Jansen had very good numbers for a bowler bowling at the death and leading the attack in some of the flat decks in the tournament. Jansen was very good with the bat as well. As a fielder, Jansen was safe in the boundary ropes.

With the bat, Jansen scored 157 runs at a batting average of 31.40, at a batting strike rate of 110.56, including a fifty to his name. Jansen did the job of a designated finisher pretty well throughout the tournament. With the ball, Jansen claimed 17 wickets at a bowling average of 26.47, at a bowling strike rate of 24.3. Jansen claimed a lot of wickets in the Powerplay overs and would spearhead the attack of the tournament.

2. Jasprit Bumrah

Jasprit Bumrah

Jasprit Bumrah has been one of the bowlers of the tournament. The Indian bowler has been brilliant with the ball. With the new ball, Bumrah has been able to swing both ways. The accuracy of Bumrah has been incredible. With the old ball, Bumrah has been one of the best in the tournament, particularly in the death overs, where he has been able to control the flow of runs.

Bumrah has been the leader of the Indian attack. With the ball, the Indian pacer has claimed 18 wickets in 10 innings at a bowling average of 18.33, a bowling strike rate of 27.61, at an economy of 3.98, including a 4-wicket haul. Bumrah is no pushover with the bat, as he can be handy down the order. Even in the field, Bumrah is pretty decent. But it is his performances against top teams that make him a contender for the MVP of the season.

1. Virat Kohli

Virat Kohli

Virat Kohli has been the highest run-scorer in the tournament and looks to finish as the one. The Indian batter has broken several records in the tournament. So far, Virat has 711 runs in the tournament, the most for a batter in a single edition of the ODI World Cup. Virat has 8 fifty plus scores to his name, the most for a batter. Virat has become the first batter to score 50 hundreds in the history of ODIs.

Virat has 3 hundreds to his name in the tournament. In 5 fifties, 3 of them have been over a score of 85 or more runs. In most innings, Virat has batted better than his career average. Virat has a batting average of 101.57 and a strike rate of 90.68. In the knockout stage, Virat scored 117 runs against New Zealand, which is the highest score by an Indian batter in ODI World Cup knockouts. These factors give him a good chance to be the contender to claim the award.
