The batter tied with the former Sri Lanka skipper Kumar Sangakkara. The 30-year-old is now the highest run-scorer in the tournament and for the Proteas as well in a single edition of the tournament. The southpaw has scored 545 runs in 7 innings in the event.

He became the only Sri Lankan batter to hit four consecutive centuries in the mega event. 

He then became the sixth player to score 500 runs at a World Cup. In the seven innings he played he scored 541 runs at an average of 108.20.

Team India's skipper is currently is also leading the table with most hundreds in the ODI World Cup history. Rohit scored in 2019 in the 9 innings scored 648 runs with an average of 81.00. 

In the current edition he scored only one hundred against Afghanistan and broke several records in that particular match. He surpassed Sachin Tendulkar's most hundreds in ODI World Cup as the opener scored seven hundreds and also broke the record of Chris Gayle with most sixes in international cricket he has now hit 564 sixes.
