David Warner – Australia – 647 runs – ODI World Cup 2019

The Australian opener brought out his best game during the ODI World Cup 2019 edition in England. David Warner scored 647 runs with three centuries and an equal amount of half-centuries. His best of 166 came versus Bangladesh as he also went on to score tons against Pakistan and South Africa. 

Rohit Sharma – India – 648 runs – ODI World Cup 2019

The current Indian skipper took the ODI World Cup 2019 in England by storm to score 648 runs. This was the most by any batter during that edition of the ODI World Cup. Rohit Sharma hit five centuries which is also the most in any edition of a cricket World Cup tournament. His best knock came against arch-rivals Pakistan in Manchester where he scored 140 runs to help India win the game.

Matthew Hayden – Australia -659 runs – ODI World Cup 2007

At number three is the former Australian opener Matthew Hayden who was part of the all-conquering Australia side of the 2000’s. The burly opener from Queensland scored 659 runs to help Australia win its third World Cup title in succession in the West Indies.

Sachin Tendulkar – India – 673 runs – ODI World Cup 2003

The former Indian legendary batter single-handedly led the Indian charge in the quest of a World Cup title. The then 29-year-old showed his full mastery with the bat to score 673 runs to help India reach the finals of the tournament. His best knock was his 98 versus Pakistan which helped India win by 6 wickets.

Virat Kohli – India – 711* runs – ODI World Cup 2023

It took 20 years but the wait was worth it as former Indian skipper Virat Kohli set a new record. The 35-year-old became the first-ever batter in the history of the ODI World Cups to score above 700 runs during his knock of 117 versus New Zealand in Mumbai.  -
