It was a memorable night on Thursday for not just the Indian cricket team but also the Indian fans. Rohit Sharma and his men became the first team to enter the semi-finals of the ODI World Cup 2023. One man who had his eyes on the proceedings in Mumbai was none other than Shoaib Akhtar.
The former Pakistani pace bowler was in awe after seeing the performance put in by the Indian seam bowlers. This led to the 48-year-old taking to Twitter to address the Indian cricket fans in particular.
The Indian cricket team on Thursday showed their ruthless side as they vanquished the Sri Lankan team. Chasing 358 to win, Sri Lanka could only score 55 runs to lose the game by a mammoth 302-run margin.

Taking to his Twitter account after the game, Shoaib Akhtar said “India is becoming a ruthless side from this point the onslaught cannot be stopped but my request to Indians is to start celebrating your fast bowlers because everyone was happy and there was a lot of noise on each delivery at the Wankhede Stadium,"
33-year-old Mohammed Shami achieved a few records during his amazing bowling performance on Thursday night. Shami became the highest Indian wicket-taker in ODI World Cups. This was also his 4th ODI fifer which is the most for any Indian bowler. it was also the 2nd fifer in three innings to take Shami’s World Cup tally to 14 wickets.
Shoaib Akhtar also remarked “I am personally happy for Shami he has found his rhythm back he has claimed so many wickets and has got 45 World Cup wickets overall. Siraj is running, Bumrah is lethal he is giving them comfort to both of them to bowl freely,"
The Indian team will play their 8th game of the ODI World Cup 2023 against South Africa this Sunday in Kolkata. The men in blue will then take a rest for a week before playing their final game against the Netherlands in Bengaluru on the 12th of November.
