WATCH: Usama Mir drops an easy catch of David Warner in ODI World Cup 2023

The ODI World Cup 2023 is into its 18th game of the tournament. The match on Friday is between Australia and Pakistan. Usama Mir playing his first game of the tournament has made it memorable for all the wrong reasons.

Babar Azam won the toss and chose to bowl first and made just one change. Shadab Khan was replaced by Usama Mir for the huge game in Bengaluru. The Australians went in with the same team that had played against Sri Lanka in Lucknow.

Both the teams have played three games so far in the ODI World Cup 2023 tournament. Pakistan began their campaign with wins over the Netherlands and Sri Lanka. This was followed by a massive loss to India. Australia, meanwhile had begun with losses to India and South Africa before beating Sri Lanka by 5 wickets.

Usama Mir drops an easy catch to deny Shaheen Afridi a wicket

The start of the game between Australia and Pakistan saw immediate drama. The very first ball of the game saw Shaheen Afridi go up with a huge appeal and opt for the DRS. The only problem was that David Warner had got a huge edge onto the ball and Pakistan had lost their review.

Shaheen Shah Afridi then bowled one on the perfect length as he had Warner in dual mind. The Australian opener went for a half-hearted pull only for the ball to lob straight up in the air.

Usama Mir who was fielding at mid-on dropped an easy catch much to the amusement of the crowd. Shaheen Afridi had his hands on his knees in utter despair and in shock.

 Both the teams need to win the game with the race for semi-finals heating up. New Zealand and India are at the top of the table with 4 wins in four games so far. A win for Pakistan will give them their 3rd win of the tournament.

Pat Cummins though knows a loss on Friday will make their chances of making the top four difficult. In case the Australians win the game and happen to do it with a big margin they could displace Pakistan from the number 4 position.
