New Zealand is set to face Afghanistan at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai. The Afghans have made a sensational comeback in the tournament as they defeated defending champions England by 69 runs in their last game at the Arun Jaitely Stadium, New Delhi. Thus, it has given them confidence ahead of meeting the Kiwis.

The Black Caps will miss the service of their regular skipper Kane Williamson who has been again forced out of the tournament due to an injury. He fractured a left thumb while playing against Bangladesh in the mega event. But they have performed superbly in the ongoing mega tournament.

In the first match played between India vs Australia, fans have seen the pitch beneficial for spinners due to the presence of dry, red soil and will prove to be challenging for batters to put runs on board. As the match progresses, the pitch tends to slow down, making second-inning stroke play difficult for the batters. Both the teams have good spinners on their side, though Afghans with the experience of Mujeeb Ur Rahman, Mohammad Nabi, and Rashid Khan will have an edge in this department.

Rain in Chennai?

The weather in Chennai will remain clear, as the temperature will hover around 32°C in the afternoon. Eventually, the temperature is set to drop to 29°C in the evening. There is also a high chance of humidity towards the evening as well. The humidity is anticipated to be around 73-81 percent and wind speed will be around 12-17 km/h.

The toss will become an important factor for both sides. The team winning the toss would like to have bat first as chasing on this ground becomes difficult. The experience of Williamson in this pitch would have been crucial as he is a good player of spin. The Afghans will surely try to make another upset of the ongoing World Cup.

Kiwis will try to keep their momentum going and win 4 matches in a row. The match will see a good battle of spin.
