Zaka Ashraf returns to Pakistan and set to chair key meeting
PCB chief Zaka Ashraf returned to Pakistan on Monday and is set to chair a high-level meeting. The meeting in question will be about his experiences in India during the ODI World Cup 2023. Zaka Ashraf is contemplating to lodge a protest with the Apex Cricket Body regarding a few incidents. While it is not clear what those incidents are one of the well-known grouse could be about the crowd in Ahmedabad.
The Pakistani media had cried foul over the crowd chants during the game on Saturday. The Indian cricket fans came out in full force and voiced their support behind the men in blue. One PCB official said “Zaka Ashraf was himself present at Ahmedabad for the match against India and is witness to some incidents which has left him unhappy despite the Indian cricket officials' hospital during his stay there."
Mickey Arthur who is the director of Pakistani Cricket had come up with an absurd reason at the end of the game. The South African said that it felt like an Indian Cricket Board-organized bilateral series. Mickey Arthur further said that the local DJ did not play “Dil DIl Pakistan” which did not offer motivation to the players.
Even coach Grant Bradburn echoed the thoughts of the South African and used this as an excuse for his team’s loss. For the record, Pakistan lost to India for the eighth time in ODI World Cup history.
Pakistan were all out for 191 in the 43rd over after they were 155/2 at one stage. The wicket of Babar Azam by Mohammad Siraj changed the whole game as the Indian bowler took charge. The fifties by Rohit Sharma and Shreyas Iyer got India the win in the 31st over with 7 wickets in hand.
