The Indian women's team suffered a 5-run defeat at the hands of Australia in the first semi-final match of the Women's 20-20 World Cup played at the Newlands Cricket Ground in Cape Town on February 23. The Women in Blue are out of the tournament after losing the must-win match.

The dismissal of Indian skipper Harmanpreet Kaur was considered the turning point of the match. Indian team batsman Jemimah Rodrigues also believes that the unfortunate run out of captain Harmanpreet was the turning point of the match.

Notably, Harmanpreet Kaur got run out in the 15th over of the match when her bat got stuck outside the crease. She was running towards the striker's end to complete two runs but unfortunately got run out. India needed 41 runs in 34 balls at that time and the skipper departed after smashing 52 runs.

Harmanpreet can say all she likes: Alyssa Healy

Meanwhile, Australian wicketkeeper Alyssa Healy talked about the run and pointed out some mistakes from Harmanpreet during running between the wickets. She said it was a bizarre run-out and added that the Indian skipper could’ve put a little more effort to get in the crease.

“It’s kind of funny actually. Belinda Clarke messaged me and said, well done for taking the bails. And it’s quite an interesting one because I actually don’t take the bails a lot in that sort of scenario. I think it’s a waste of time and I’ve got to put them back on,” Healy told ABC sport.

“So, it’s annoying. But for some reason, I felt the need to take the bails off and it was like a bizarre moment where I looked at the umpire and said, I think that’s out. And I think Shooter at the point was like. I also think that it’s out,” she added.

“So, just a bizarre play. Harmanpreet can say all she likes that it was so unlucky. At the end of the day, she cruised back and probably could’ve been passed the crease, an extra two meters if she genuinely put in the effort. So, we’ll take it,” Healy added.
