In the recent series against West Indies, India did not perform as per the expectations of the fans, which did not go well with the masses. While India did win the ODI series against West Indies, the visiting side lost the T20I series due to a lot of changes. The thought process of the Indian management was questioned by the fans, as the senior players were rested during the ODI series.

The fans were not happy with the process of experimentation, as it led to the team losing matches. Speaking about the same, the Indian coach reacted. “The No. 4 and 5 spots are discussed a lot and give the impression that we did not have clarity on who is going to be there. I could have told you 18-19 months ago who the three candidates for the two spots were,” said the Indian coach.

'Unfortunate that players had injuries in the space of two months' - Rahul Dravid

Dravid expressed that the injuries of the middle-order batters led to the process of experimentation, which was not ideal for the team. "It was always between Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul, and Rishabh Pant. There was no doubt. It is unfortunate that all three had injuries in the space of two months. What are the odds of that happening? All three guys pushing for those two spots, had serious injuries, and had to go under the knife,” added Dravid.

"So, you have to react to that, put other people in those positions, and see who can do it. Just in case come the World Cup they are not fit. In that situation, we tried a few people. This word (experimentation) keeps getting thrown around without being thought through. It's not that we are experimenting for the sake of experimenting, sometimes there are specific reasons for it" concluded Dravid.
