In the 38th match of IPL 2023, the clash between PBKS and LSG saw an impressive batting display by the latter team. LSG won the toss and decided to bat first. However, PBKS struck early as their skipper KL Rahul got out after scoring only 12 runs off 9 balls.

But the other LSG batsmen stepped up their game to take the team to an incredible total. Kyle Mayers played a quickfire knock of 54 off 24 balls, smashing 7 fours and 4 sixes. Ayush Badoni contributed 43 runs off 24 balls with 3 fours and 3 sixes. Marcus Stoinis played a sensational innings of 72 runs off 40 balls, hitting 6 fours and 5 sixes. Nicholas Pooran's cameo of 45 runs off 19 balls, including 7 fours and 1 six, helped LSG reach a mammoth total of 257/5, which is the second-highest total ever in the history of IPL.

PBKS had a tough task ahead of them to chase down such a huge total. They began their innings with a decent start, with opener Atharva Taide making 66 runs off 36 balls, which included 8 fours and 2 sixes. Sikandar Raza and Liam Livingstone also contributed 36 and 23 runs, respectively. However, it was not enough as PBKS fell short of the target by 56 runs, finishing their innings at 201.

Yash Thakur was the pick of the bowlers for LSG, taking 4 wickets in his 4 overs, while Naveen Ul Haq also impressed, taking 3 wickets in his 4 overs.

It was a one-sided match in which LSG dominated throughout. With this win, LSG climbed to the second spot in the points table, while PBKS remained at the bottom of the table. LSG's incredible batting performance will surely boost their confidence for their upcoming matches, while PBKS will have to regroup and come up with a better plan to improve their chances of winning in the tournament.
