Australia will tour India in February and March for four Test matches for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy series. The Aussies last played Test cricket in India in February 2017 and beat the hosts by 333 runs in the first Test in Pune, but lost the series 2-1. The biggest challenge for the Australian team is to defeat the Indian team at their home ground in the Test series.

The four-match Test series will also be the last edition of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. As per the Cricket Governing body’s Future Tours & Programme (FTP) starting in 2024, it will be contested across five Tests.

Meanwhile, India Veteran spinner, Ravichandran Ashwinhas challenged Australian premier spinner, Nathan Lyon, ahead of the Test series. Lyon surpassed Ashwin in the list of highest wicket-takers in Test cricket during the first Test against the West Indies in Perth.

The Indian spinner will look to add more wickets to his tally when he will be in action in the upcoming series against Bangladesh and Sri Lanka. The two great spinners will make their presence felt in the highly anticipated Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) tournament in February.

‘He has gone past me’- R Ashwin

In a video on his Youtube channel, Ravichandran Ashwin expressed his excitement over facing Nathan Lyon in the upcoming Test series against Australia.

“Nathan Lyon took a six fer in the 2nd innings and ended with 8 wickets in the match. He went past my tally of Test wickets and came into the top ten bowlers in terms of wickets taken. I was with 442 wickets, he has gone past me and is currently at 446,” Ashwin said on his YouTube channel.

“Once my buddy is done with his home series, he will come to India and I am looking forward to that series. Overall, Australia played really well. But in another important news…. While talking about my buddy Nathan Lyon, even my pen flies, I don’t know why. Anyway, he will come here when Australia tour India next year. Looking forward to meeting him and competing against him,” he added.
