The qualifiers for the 50-over World Cup are underway in Zimbabwe with two matches kicking the tournament off. First, Zimbabwe are taking on Nepal while at the same time, West Indies and the USA are clashing in the game happening simultaneously. In the first game, a small kid wearing an RCB jersey was spotted in the crowd. The viral photos garnered attention from fans on social media.

Talking of the game, Zimbabwe won the toss and elected to bowl first. Nepal put on a great effort with the bat, scoring 290 runs for eight wickets in 50 overs. Openers Kushal Bhurtel and Aasif Sheikh added 171 for the first wicket. Bhurtel was extremely unlucky to get out for 99 after facing 95 deliveries, missing his century by just one run. His partner, Sheikh added 66 off 100. Kushal Malla’s 41 and skipper Rohit Paudal’s 31 boosted the total to 290 runs in 50 overs.

Zimbabwe need to score 291 runs to win

Talking of Zimbabwe’s bowling, Richard Ngarava scalped four wickets for 43 runs in nine overs. Wellington Masakadza returned with two wickets for 42 runs in ten overs. At the same time, Blessing Muzarabani and Tendai Chatara returned with one wicket each.

In reply, Zimbabwe started strong with their openers adding 45 runs for the opening stand. Joylord Gumbie scored 25 off 29 while skipper Craig Ervin went on to score a half-century. They were in a strong position at 119-1 at 22 overs. Sompal Kami is the only Nepali bowler to scalp a wicket so far in the game.

Talking of RCB, they had yet another disappointing season in the Indian Premier League in its sixteenth edition. They could not qualify for the playoffs whereas star batter Virat Kohli had a successful season with the bat. So did skipper Faf du Plessis. But, there was a lack of a fluid-functioning team which meant RCB could not string performances together to endure yet another season of disappointment.
