Several former cricketers and fans all around the nation felt perplexed by India's picks during the upcoming West Indies tour for Test and ODI squads. The emergence of fresh stars was greeted and accepted by experts; however, a plethora argued that the Indian Premier League garnered a greater spotlight than the country's domestic tournaments.

The cricketing fraternity cheered the selections of young stars with the likes of Yashasvi Jaiswal and Sanju Samson; however, the omission of many others sparked concerns regarding the team's structure. Meanwhile, the choice of Ajinkya Rahane as the vice-captain of the Indian squad, considering the fact that he only appeared in one match (the ICC World Test Championship Final), left fans on social media bewildered.

In a similar vein, Wasim Jaffer outlined three problems with the Indian teams headed to the West Indies. Out of three, one claimed that despite the hard work that players like Abhimanyu Easwaran and Priyank Panchal put into playing for India A, Ruturaj Gaikwad outclassed them during the Windies tour by just playing in the recently concluded IPL.

The right-handed batter also used the term "queue" for the CSK opener's inclusion in the upcoming series. “Easwaran and Panchal have also been doing hard yards in Ranji and India A, knocking on Test doors for a long time. Just because they don't play IPL, is it a case of out of sight out of mind? How did Ruturaj jump the queue?” Jaffer said.

I don’t understand this queue: Dilip Vengsarkar

Former India cricketer and team selector Dilip Vengsarkar condemned Jaffer's remark for Ruturaj Gaikwad and affirmed that a good player like him will adjust to any format, no matter whether it is either the red ball format or the white ball. “Red ball or white ball doesn’t matter. It is all the same. A good player will adjust to all formats. The thing we have to wait to see is how he performs in Test cricket. And I don’t understand this queue. Every player is in contention,” the ex-cricketer replied.

Meanwhile, Team India is all set to lock horns for two Tests with the West Indies starting on July 12.
