Rohit Sharma led-Mumbai lost their first game of the Indian T20 League 2023 against Bangalore at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium. Playing without their main bowlers, Mumbai failed to defend 171 on a small ground and got thrashed by Bangalore. Apart from bowling, Mumbai’s batting also let them down as their top order completely miss-fired. Batters, including skipper Rohit, failed to score runs and got out cheaply which led to an early collapse.

Young batters like Tilak Varma and Nehal Wadhera helped Men in Blue and Gold to get to a respectful total. Notably, Mumbai skipper Rohit Sharma’s horrific run in Indian T20 League continued as he was dismissed for just 1 run off 10 balls. However, his batting didn’t go well with Bangalore fans as they teased him with disrespectful chants at the Chinnaswamy stadium.

In a video going viral on social media, a group of Bangalore fans can be seen chanting disrespectful remarks about Rohit Sharma. They can be heard chanting ‘Vadapav Vadapav’ while Rohit was reportedly going back to the pavilion.

Here is the video:

Notably, Rohit has been phenomenal with the bat in the Indian T20 League as he has hammered tons of runs for Mumbai and Deccan in previous seasons. However, he has failed to contribute with the bat in the last few years and has been struggling in the middle. His last half-century came 15 innings back in 2021.

“Can't keep dwelling on it”, Rohit Sharma opens up on Jasprit Bumrah

India and Mumbai skipper Rohit has been playing without his best bowler in the last few months. He has been struggling to find Bumrah’s alternative in Mumbai’s camp. Although, after losing against Bangalore, Rohit made a shocking remark about Bumrah’s presence in the team. He said that he is now used to playing without Bumrah.

Rohit said, “For the past six to eight months, I am used to playing without Jasprit Bumrah. Of course, this is a different setup. Someone needs to put their hand up and come in to fill that place. We can't keep dwelling on it. You can try and control the things that are in your control and those that are not in your control, you can't do that. Injuries are not in your control.”

Meanwhile, fans react to disrespectful chants of Rohit Sharma by Bangalore fans. A Twitter user said, “Bangalore has the biggest and most toxic fan club.”
