Assam player Riyan Parag came into the scene during the IPL 2019. That year, he made his debut for the Rajasthan Royals and scored a fifty in a losing cause against Delhi Capitals. Since then, Parag hasn't been able to replicate his potential in the biggest T20 league. The right-hander has only two IPL fifties till now. Recently, the 2018 U19 World Cup winner featured for India A in the Emerging Asia Cup.

Currently, the Rajasthan Royals player has hit two hundred in the Deodhar Trophy. This has been one of the reasons why East Zone is playing in the final against South Zone. Meanwhile, during an interview, Parag said that performances don't matter to him but enjoying the game does.

"I do not care. I definitely do not care about what people think about me. I am going to play cricket the way started playing. I want to play cricket the way I want to play. Performances for me don't really matter, as long as I'm having fun and can stay calm, I think it is sorted, man," Riyan Parag said in an interview to cricket.com.

It hurts when people think I take it for granted: Riyan Parag

The Assam cricketer touched upon the rumor that he plays the game only because he has strong connections. He added that he has the craziest work ethic.

"What hurts me the most is that people think I take it for granted, I have some connections or sources, and that's absolutely horse****, I told you about my journey. People from Assam haven't played at the IPL level, I'm going to play a lot more. I do not take anything for granted, I have the craziest work ethic, you can ask people who are close to me. All that goes unnoticed because I don't brag about it on social media. You can have all the assumptions if you don't want to know me."
