After 1205 days, Virat Kohli made a century in a Test, and he did so at the iconic Narendra Modi Stadium. By playing a defiant innings on a slow and flat track, the right-hander crossed the three-figure barrier. The 28th century of his Test career was by far his second-best performance in terms of balls faced.

Anushka Sharma, Kohli's wife, previously disclosed that the former India captain struggled with illness as he approached his century on day 4. Yet it's unlikely that the team was aware of it.

Rohit Sharma, the captain while speaking in the post-match press conference, believes that Kohli wasn't ill. Once the Border-Gavaskar Trophy was over, Rohit addressed the media and urged them to be sceptical of what they read online. He said, “Don’t believe what you see on social media. Don’t think Virat was sick, just that he was coughing a bit."

Axar Patel also stated that Kohli didn't appear ill at the conclusion of day 4. Axar spoke to the media after the end of Day 4 and said, “I don't know. The way he was running between the wickets, it didn't look like he was sick. In such hot weather, he forged such a great partnership and ran so well. It was fun batting with him.”

As Kohli took the field on day five, he was observed giving Axar Patel some advice during the first act, and Kohli appeared to be in good physical condition. The right-handed batsman's outstanding 186-run innings earned him the title of Player of the Match.

In the fourth Test match in Ahmedabad, the legendary Indian batsman finally reached the century mark after more than three years. For the first time since January 2022, Kohli broke the 50-run barrier on day 3 and turned his start into a significant century for the match.

India rallied to Australia's total of 480 with a massive score of 570 to take a 91-run lead thanks to centuries from Kohli and Gill. In their second innings, Australia batted well, losing just two wickets for 175 runs throughout the 78.1 overs they played on Days 4 and 5.
