One month ahead of the ODI World Cup 2023, India announced their 15-member squad for the prestigious tournament. Amid the ongoing Asia Cup 2023, India skipper Rohit Sharma and chief selector Ajit Agarkar addressed a press conference to reveal the squad. Star wicketkeeper-batters KL Rahul and Suryakumar Yadav retained their places in the squad.

However, Tilak Varma, Prasidh Krishna, and Sanju Samson have been dropped. Meanwhile, a video of Rohit Sharma went viral on social media. In the viral video, he can be seen giving hilarious reactions while Agarakar announces the squad. Starting with Indian skipper Agarkar, who named Rohit captain of the team. After which Rohit hilariously raised his hand in celebration and smiled.

Here is the video:

His reaction went viral on social media as fans praised the fact that the Indian skipper is looking relaxed and confident ahead of the prestigious tournament. Rohit also echoed the same while answering a question about the pressure of being from his home nation. Rohit said, "Not at all; we have no pressure as we just want to go and play. Rohit also spoke about his combinations and choices between Ishan Kishan and KL Rahul. He said it would be decided on match day only.

Yuzvendra Chahal once again misses out on the key tournament.

Many fans and cricket pundits were expecting one more spinner in the squad as the World Cup is in Indian conditions. However, India didn't pick a fourth spinner, as they went with only Kuldeep Yadav, Axar Patel, and Ravindra Jadeja. This means India is going with an extra left-arm spinner who can bat too. Speaking about this, Rohit said, "You need both bowling depth and batting depth. We need to create that depth, and we found that it was lacking in our team for the last few years. When we talk about depth in batting, the No. 9 and No. 8 positions become crucial.

"In the first game here, we saw that we fell short in the backend. We want tail-enders to contribute too. Another 10–15 runs in that game would have made a difference. That is the margin between winning and losing. We have spoken to them about that role in the World Cup," says Rohit. It's worth noting that India will start their campaign against Australia at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on October 8.
