Shubman Gill played an inning to remember for a lifetime against New Zealand
One of the features of Gill’s innings was his six-hitting, an aspect of his game that has often held him back in the shortest format. But on this occasion, he was at his fluent best and hit nine sixes in total, with three of them coming off successive balls to deliver him the double ton.
It was a one-man show and the BlackCaps didn’t really have many answers to him. Even the usually economical Mitchell Santner couldn’t put a lid on the scoring rate. The youngster played a destructive knock which included 19 fours and 9 sixes.
