India are set to tour West Indies for 2 Tests, 3 ODIs and 5 T20I matches series which will kick off on July 12 with the Test series. The squad is already announced and the skipper Rohit Sharma will be back in action after an embarrassing loss in the WTC 2023 final on June 11. Rohit was criticised a lot for his defensive captaincy during the major clash.

Meanwhile, former Pakistan cricketer Kamran Akmal has also talked about the 36-year-old batter and said that he should have a presence like former India captain Virat Kohli on the field. He said that Rohit should start the next WTC cycle with an active mindset. Akmal heaped praise on Kohli and said that Kohli is an all-time great.

“India will have to play well in both Test matches against West Indies. There has to be a lot of passion. It will be important for them to start well. Rohit Sharma will have to improve. His presence on the ground should be like Virat Kohli. He is an all-time great. He is a brilliant performer.

His hunger, his on-field presence, everything is top-class. He is the favourite player of all the players. A lot of cricketers get to learn a lot from his approach and performances. He is an automatic selection,” Akmal was quoted as saying by Circle of Cricket.

This was the best chance to bring Sarfaraz Khan in - Akmal

Akmal also talked about the Indian young batter Sarfaraz Khan who has been brilliantly performing in domestic cricket for a while but is yet to make his Test debut. He said that Sarfaraz shouldn't have been added to the playing XI but the management should've included him in the squad at least.

“From what I have seen, Sarfaraz Khan has performed very well in domestic cricket. While I don't think he should have featured in the playing XI, he should have been added to the squad. It would have been a signal to him that he wasn't being ignored. This was the best chance to bring him in,” he remarked.
