The Indian Cricket Board announced the 15-member squad for the Asian Games 2023 to be staged in Hangzhou, China between September 23 and October 8. Ruturaj Gaikwad has been named the captain of the team that includes several IPL breakouts including players like Rinku Singh, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Ravi Bishnoi, etc. However, there were also a few eyebrow-raising snubs that fans pointed out and could not stop discussing. One such name was Kolkata Knight Riders skipper Nitish Rana who scored 413 runs in 14 matches at a strike rate of 140.96, including 3 half-centuries.

Rana’s wife Saachi Marwah was one among the few who could not digest his snub from the Asian Games squad. Despite a good domestic record and a strong season in the IPL, he was left out of the squad. Marwah took to Twitter and posted a cryptic message taking a dig at the Indian selectors. She wrote, "You either get bitter, or you get better. It’s that simple. You either take what has been dealt to you and allow it to make you a better person, or you allow it to tear you down. The choice belongs to you."

Here are the shared posts:

Rana has scored 841 runs with a strike rate of 143.7 in his previous 25 T20 innings

However, she did not stop there. She also posted a message from the Indian epic Mahabharata that read, "Endurance and Perseverance: Lord Krishna encourages individuals to face challenges with strength and resilience. He reminds Arjuna that difficulties and tests are an inevitable part of life, and one must endure them with a steadfast mind."

Following this Marwah also retweeted a post about Rana’s stats that showed that he had scored 841 runs with a strike rate of 143.7 and an average of 36.6 in his previous 25 T20 innings. This comprises five fifties and one hundred. In all of these games, he has taken 14 wickets. Notably, it is certain that players selected for the Asian Games will not get a chance to play in the ODI World Cup 2023 which starts on October 5. It could be so that Indian selectors want to keep their options open. It is yet to be seen if this snub for Nitish Rana could end up being a blessing in disguise.
