The 25th match of the Indian Premier League 2023 was played between the five-time champions Mumbai Indians (MI) and the 2016 winner Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on Tuesday, April 18 at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad. MI won the match and they have now bounced back by winning back-to-back three matches in the season.

Talking about the match, SRH won the toss and invited MI to put runs on the scoreboard. Skipper Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan got MI off to a quick start but the former fell early in the powerplay and couldn’t execute the start he got. Kishan and Cameron Green steadied things in the middle before Marco Jansen struck twice in one over.

The South African pacer sent Kishan and Suryakumar Yadav back to the pavilion. But, later, Tilak Verma along with Green counterattacked and added a 50+ stand for the fourth wicket. Green carried on and brought up his maiden IPL fifty while David played a cameo at the other end and helped the team to achieve a massive total of 192 runs. Bhuvaneshwar Kumar was the best bowler from SRH as he conceded only 31 runs and picked up a wicket as well.

A brilliant all-round performance by MI

Chasing the target, SRH didn't have a great start as they lost their first two wickets on the score of 25 runs. Last match centurion Harry Brook couldn't contribute anything special against MI as he got out on just 9 runs. Jason Behrendorff struck in both overs he bowled in the powerplay. However, later, Mayank Agarwal and Aiden Markram steadied the ship but the latter departed after scoring 22 runs.

SRH were losing wickets in a regular interval of time but Agarwal was keeping one end safe. South African wicketkeeper-batter Heinrich Klassen showed some brilliant shots in the middle overs against Piyush Chawla but ended up throwing his wicket. Agarwal was struggling a lot and got out after scoring 48 runs off 41 balls. Marco Jansen and Washington Sundar played cameos but it needed to last a few more balls but badly that didn't happen for SRH as Arjun Tendulkar bowled a brilliant final over as he convincingly defended 20 runs.
