However, it is highly unlikely that Sanju Samson will play a single match for Team India before the Indian T20 League. Because he is not a part of the ODI and Test teams and there are very few T20 matches for Team India this year. Samson's competition is also with many Indian bigwigs. The team also has great wicketkeepers like Ishan Kishan and KL Rahul. In such a situation, he will have some difficulty securing his place.

Who will Sanju replace?

Considering the fact that Rahul and Shreyas Iyer are India's first-choice middle-order batters in ODIs, Samson's India comeback can well be delayed in ODIs. But the Indian star can feature in the upcoming T20I series against West Indies which is scheduled to be held in July 2023. However, he can be seen in action sooner in the Indian T20 League 2023, where he leads Rajasthan. Samson led the franchise to the finals of the cash-rich league 2022, only to fall short in the summit clash against Gujarat.

Meanwhile, the Hardik Pandya-led team are ready to clash against New Zealand in the second T20I match on January 29. They lost the first match of the series by 21 runs. It will be interesting to watch how the Indian team will make a comeback against the mighty Kiwis.
