After India's loss in the World Test Championship 2023, there has been a talk about whether Rohit Sharma should lead the Indian team in Tests. He is already 36 and it is likely to retire in the next few months or so. Sharma has been retained as captain for the two-match Test series against the West Indies. This will be India's first assignment for WTC 2023-25 cycle.
Meanwhile, former Indian Cricket Board chief selector, MSK Prasad has said that if Ajinkya Rahane can be re-instated as vice-captain, then why not Kohli as captain? Apparently, after India's loss last month, Rahane was re-instated as vice-captain of the team. The right-hander made his comeback in the team for that game and did well.
“I don’t know if I can answer this question. I don’t know the mindset of the selectors. Usually the mindset of the selectors should be now with the WTC cycle it should be a clear cycle, that’s how the mindset should be,” Prasad said in an exclusive interview with Khel Now.
“Why not Virat Kohli? When Ajinkya Rahane can come back and become the vice-captain, then why not Virat Kohli? I don’t know what the mindset of Virat is on captaincy. In case selectors are thinking beyond Rohit, I don’t know whether they are thinking but if they are thinking beyond Rohit, then I think Virat can also be an option”.
Rishabh Pant needs to recover first: MSK Prasad
During the interview, the former India player was asked about Rishabh Pant becoming India's captain.
“During our times he just coming up. Let him come back. See what Rishabh Pant has done no other wicketkeeper batsman in the history of Indian Cricket has done. Because no wicket keeper has got runs and centuries in Australia South Africa and England in the Indian Cricket history. Let him come back, let him start getting back on the field. We can’t keep assuming from the selection point of view that this is possible, that is possible, we cannot be a layman prospect”. MSK Prasad said.

Captain - 7 letter word

So only a 7 letter player can be the captain
RohitGS - Player with 7 letters in Name
That's why Hitman is the greatest of all time 🔥♥️
No why should he be the captain. Isn't Rohit sharma prince of who was promised and Kohli is chokli?

Simple answer - Rahane was removed as vice captain after he was dropped from the squad while Virat left the captaincy himself

Even now nothing has gone wrong. Just sack Rohit Sharma from Captaincy and give it back to Virat Kohli as an honour of mistakenly sacking him from the Captaincy regime.

Solution for me is Virat to captain in Test cricket till the end of the WTC cycle. Rohit to captain in ODIs and Hardik in T20 cricket. Select a young cricketer in each of these formats to be the deputy.

Bring thala as captain again pic.twitter.com/9ynkAye0zE

Kohli is perfect for test captaincy. It was just the tussle with Ganguly that caused him to lose captaincy. He should be brought back.
— Farzi Batman (@BatmanShiv10) July 10, 2023
Just the tests though. Hardik Pandya should be made the permanent captain for T20s and ODIs.
Because Virat left the test captaincy on it's own. He was not sacked as test captain by bcci. It's like telling bcci why u are not calling a player out of retirement?
