The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 action returned on Thursday, April 20 as the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Punjab Kings (PBKS) clashed against each other at the Punjab Cricket Association IS Bindra Stadium in Mohali. RCB convincingly clinched their 3rd win of the season as they defeated PBKS by 24 runs.

Talking about the match, PBKS won the toss and elected to bowl first and the decision proved right as they restricted RCB on the score of 174 runs. No other batters from RCB except their openers Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis stitched a wonderful 137-run partnership for the first wicket. Firstly, they provided a brilliant start in the powerplay and continue to score runs till the 15th over.

Kohli departed after a struggling 59 off 47 knocks and their star allrounder Glenn Maxwell couldn’t do any heroics for the team this time and registered a golden duck. Du Plessis did slam some sixes in the end but couldn’t finish the innings. PBKS bowlers made a remarkable comeback in the death overs especially Harpreet Brar and Arshdeep Singh.

Brilliant bowling performance by RCB

Chasing the target, PBKS had a horrible start as they lost their first 3 wickets on the score of just 27 runs. They kept losing wickets at a regular intervals of time however Prabhsimran Singh was keeping one end safe and also kept ticking the scoreboard as well. PBKS suffered a huge blow when Curran was sent back to the pavilion by Wanindu Hasaranga who got him run out with a brilliant throw.

Prabhsimran did well to compile a 30-ball 46, but the wickets column forced him to take a different approach which meant he threw his wicket away in the 12th over. In the end, wicketkeeper-batter Jitesh Sharma played some good shots but that wasn't enough the achieve the target. Meanwhile, with this win, RCB now moved to the top half of the points table and will look to continue their winning run in the upcoming matches as well.
