India wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant was involved in a horrific car crash on the Delhi-Dehradun highway last week on December 30. He was luckily pulled out of the burning car by a Haryana Roadways bus driver and conductor and transferred to a local hospital.
Indian cricketer Shreyas Iyer said he was shocked and devastated when he heard the news about Pant’s accident. He said that he got to know about this from his friends and got scared to see the pictures. He wishes him for his speedy recovery and is happy that he is safe.
“I got a message from friends and was devastated. Especially when I saw the pictures. I am just glad that he is safe now. I just hope he recovers fast so that I can play with him soon," said Iyer.
Indian Cricket Board decided to shift Pant to Mumbai Kokilaben Hospital by air ambulance as he was not in a position to fly by a commercial airline. The 25-year-old was admitted to a hospital in Mumbai for immediate treatment of one of the two ligament tears in Rishabh Pant’s knee. He was examined by doctors on Wednesday evening and is doing well.
Shreyas Iyer topped the list of most runs in this calendar year for India
Talking about Iyer, he will be back in action against Sri Lanka in the ODI series starting on January 10. However, he was last seen against Bangladesh in the test series where he took out India from a losing position and made the team win with a beautiful match-winning partnership with Ravichandran Ashwin. He talked about the same recently.
“I was already there, but when I saw Axar getting out, I was dejected. I realized how tough things will be. I saw Ashwin walk in with confidence and he came and gave me a fist bump, and said, ‘We’ll do it, Machi don’t worry.’
I always love Ashwin’s confidence. Whenever he comes in, he starts off with a bang. The first ball he faces, it’s from the middle of his bat. From the other end, you derive confidence from his approach. He is so experienced and is one of the best readers of the game. We have also batted a lot together in the IPL for Delhi Capitals. There was a game against Mumbai Indians in Sharjah where we were in trouble and he came in and started off confidently." Iyer said.
