Team India is currently touring South Africa for an all-format tour. The Men in Blue will be playing 3 ODIs, 2 Tests, and 3 T20Is. The T20 series is currently underway, and most of the senior players are absent from the squad who were part of the ODI World Cup 2023. Skipper Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli have been given rest, and there are speculations that both the star batters might not be included in the T20 World Cup 2024 squad as the squad has been trying with new and young players for the shortest format of the game.

Both batters will be joining the side for the 2 Test matches. Former South Africa skipper AB de Villiers has shared his opinion on whether the two-star cricketers should be part of the T20I setup or not ahead of the World Cup 2024. De Villiers has backed the two batters and believes it is up to the two whether they want to be part of the side or not.

Kohli and Rohit are arguably the best white-ball cricketers of this generation. Both of them were the highest and second-highest run scorers in the marquee tournament. Both of them led India to the final of the World Cup but lost to Australia in the final.

We just have to see them there: AB de Villiers

De Villiers said on his YouTube channel, "We just have to see them there (Rohit & Virat). It's all about their hunger. Do they have the hunger to go there and win the T20 World Cup? I think so. I cannot speak on their behalf but I think they will want to go there and win. T20 World Cup is a short tournament and you do set yourselves up to have another chance of winning a World Cup. So I do see them going there."

Suryakumar Yadav is leading the side in the absence of the 36-year-old opener. De Villiers praised the batter, "India captained by Suryakumar Yadav is quite a nice move, I like that. He is a bit of a 360-degree) player. He thinks differently and is a bit creative. It will be nice to watch him lead his troops in South Africa."
