South Africa vs India 2nd Test is currently underway in Cape Town’s Newlands Cricket Ground. The hosts won the toss and elected to bat first and India’s pace bowling department stepped up on the batting paradise of Cape Town. Mohammed Siraj was absolutely exceptional and he showed the cricketing fraternity once again that when he is in full flow he is the best bowler that the team can get, and got valuable support from his partner Jasprit Bumrah.

The Proteas were bowled out for 55 runs, and it is their seventh-lowest in Test cricket and their lowest since 1932 when they made 36 and 45 against Australia in Melbourne. It is the lowest total for any team against India in the longest format of the game. Siraj picked up 6 wickets in the 9 overs he bowled in the innings.

Bumrah and Mukesh Kumar picked up two wickets each. The Hyderabad-born pacer was in full flow and looked clinical with his lengths and line. This was his third five wicket haul in the traditional format of the game. India lost Yasashvi Jaiswal early on in the innings as the left-handed batter was back without scoring.

India collapse on 153

Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill then built a partnership and in the process scored 39 and 36 runs respectively. Virat Kohli once again stepped up on the occasion as he was the highest runs scorer for the side. The quick wickets of Rohit and Gill blackfooted India a bit, but Kohli’s valuable 46 runs once again proved why he has been the crisis man for India over the years. He smashed 6 fours and one six in the process.

A middle and lower order failure restricted the Men in Blue to take a lead of more than hundred runs and they lead by 98 runs.  The lower order collapsed as the team lost 6 wickets in zero runs. India were 153/4 and they were bowled out on the same runs.
