After a continuous poor performance in the Indian Premier League, Sunrisers Hyderabad have parted ways with West Indies legend Brain Lara. The Franchise has decided to replace the Carrebian superstar with former New Zealand all-rounder Daniel Vettori. Vettori will now take care of the Orange Army as Head Coach.
Vettori has been one of the key members of Royal Challengers Bangalore's coaching staff. He had also worked as an assistant coach with the Australian men's team. Meanwhile, it's worth noting that before assuming the role of head coach last year, Lara served as the batting coach for SRH. However, during Lara's tenure, the team that had clinched the title in 2016 found itself at the bottom of the 10-team league.
Despite securing four victories in 14 matches, SRH's performance under Lara's leadership led to a disappointing outcome. Informing the public about their decision, the team tweeted, "As our 2-year association with Brian Lara comes to an end, we bid adieu to him. Thank you for your contributions to the Sunrisers. We wish you all the best for your future endeavours."
Will Daniel Vettori be able to change Sunrisers Hyderabad's fate?
Daniel Vettori will be the fourth head coach for the Orange Army in the last six seasons. It has been a very inconsistent and inadequate selection from the owners since they won the title in 2016. Since David Warner and Kane Williamson left the team, it has struggled to rebuild as a unit. Vettori will have a very big challenge to unite the team and get the best out of them.
Earlier this month, Royal Challengers Bangalore parted ways with former head coach Sanjay Banger and director of cricket administration Mike Hesson. After that, the team appointed former Zimbabwe captain Andy Flower as its new head coach. It's worth noting that Flower has previously coached the Lucknow Super Giants since IPL 2022.
Here is how fans react to SRH's new head coach, Daniel Vettori:
