The third Test of the ongoing Ashes 2023 series between England and Pat Cummins and company will take place at Headingley starting on Thursday, July 6. Australian batter Steve Smith is scheduled to play in his 100th Test match

Smith will wear a unique jersey during the historic game. The talented hitter shared a photo showing off his 100th Test match shirt on his Instagram page. He shared a photo of the kit and wrote: “Special shirts for my 100th Test match tomorrow."

During the second Test of the Ashes in 2023 at Lord's, Steve Smith distinguished himself with the bat. With 110 runs during the first inning, he scored his 32nd Test century. Australia went 2-0 lead across the five-match series with a remarkable 43-run victory after effectively protecting a 371-run target.

Steve Smith said he would be thrilled if Australia were able to win the Ashes by winning the third Test before reaching his personal milestone. The cricketer for New South Wales revealed that one of his life goals is to win the Ashes in England. The Sydney Morning Herald quoted Smith as stating the following:

He said, “It is something that has been on my bucket list, to win an Ashes series in England. What a way to top it off, if I could do it in my 100th game, it would be special for sure."

He added that, "I know the person I am, I know how I want to go about things. I am out here playing my game and for my country. Everyone can say what they like, it doesn’t bother me. I am comfortable in my own skin."

Many people consider Smith to be one of the greatest modern figures. In 99 Tests, he has amassed 9113 runs for an incredible average of 59.56. He has the record for having the highest average after 100 tests in a list dominated by the greats of the game.
