Former Pakistan captain Wasim Akram has slammed the Pakistan team management. He highlighted the failure in the support staff of the team, that the team director of the two-time Asia Cup champion, Mickey Arthur, is in Derbyshire. He is tweeting about the ongoing County Championship, instead of being in Sri Lanka.

Pakistan is playing Sri Lanka in a virtual semi-final for both teams in the ongoing Asia Cup. They are playing a do-or-die match in the Super 4 of the continental tournament. At the beginning of the tournament they were dominating but their huge 228-run loss against India in the Super 4 stage has put them on the edge of elimination.

Our team director is in Derbyshire and tweeting about county games: Wasim Akram

Wasim Akram, however, didn’t like the thing about Mickey Arthur and during a discussion on Star Sports said that Mickey Arthur should have been with the team in the Asia Cup 2023. He said, "Our team director is in Derbyshire and tweeting about county games instead of being here with the Pakistani team in the Asia Cup."

Pakistan team is in a do-in-or-die situation in Asia Cup 2023. If they lose against the Lankans, they will be eliminated. A win would take them to the final, which will be played against India on September 17, Sunday. After the loss against India, Pakistan made changes in bulk for the must-win game against Sri Lanka. Agha Salman and Faheem Ashraf have been dropped from the team and Zaman Khan and Mohammad Wasim Jr have replaced injured Haris Rauf and Naseem Shah.

Pakistan won the toss and elected to bat first and lost their opener Fakhar Zaman for just 4 runs. Abdullah Shafique scored a half-century. He scored 52 runs off 69 balls. The opener along with wicketkeeper batter Mohammad Rizwan stitched a decent partnership. Rizwan's 86 runs off 73 balls hitting six fours and two sixes. He led Pakistan to score 252/7 in a 42-over match.

Their bowlers need to step up and win the match for them. So the two-time champions book a place in the final against their arch-rivals India.
