In the year 2007, the Indian team won the inaugural 20-20 World Cup under the leadership of Mahendra Singh Dhoni. But every cricket fan remembers Joginder Sharma, who was the hero of the final in that World Cup. The speedster has now taken retirement from International Cricket. On Friday (February 3), 39-year-old Joginder announced his retirement on Twitter.

Joginder Sharma, who comes from Rohtak in Haryana, has played only 4 ODIs and 4 T20I matches for India. The special thing is that he played all the T20 matches of his career only in the World Cup and made history. On the other hand, he made his ODI debut for India in 2004 and played the last ODI in 2007. Joginder Sharma is currently posted as DSP in Haryana Police, he was also playing Ranji Trophy for Haryana till some time ago.

Joginder shared his letter on Twitter, and wrote, "I am grateful for the opportunities given to me by the Indian Cricket Board wicket Association Chennai Super Kings and the Haryana government to all my teammates coaches Mentos and support staff absolute privilege to have played with you all for helping turn my dream into reality. "To all cricket fans that have supported me through the ups and downs of International sport: I will forever cherish the moments I spent with you all. Your support has always been a source of motivation for me.

"Lastly, I would like to thank my family and friends for their conditional love and support throughout my career they have been my backbones and without them, I would not have been able to achieve what I have today."

Joginder Sharma announced his retirement from cricket and talked about exploring other options. "I am excited to announce I will be exploring new opportunities in the world of cricket side of it also continue to participate in the sport that I love and challenge myself in a new and different environment I believe that this is the next step in my journey as a cricketer I look forward to this chapter in my life."

The day of September 24, 2007, proved to be wonderful in the history of Indian cricket. On the same day, Team India became the champion of the first edition of the T20 World Cup by defeating arch-rivals Pakistan at the Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg.
