'The flying singh' - Fans stunned as Prabhsimran Singh takes sensational catch to dismiss South Zone's Ricky Bhui in Deodhar Trophy 2023

Star North Zone wicketkeeper-batter Prabhsimran Singh displayed sensational athleticism behind the stumps in the ongoing rain-affected match against South Zone. The two teams locked horns in the opening clash of the Deodhar Trophy 2023 in Puducherry. South Zone has posted a total of 303 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in the first innings as they batted first after winning the toss.

Coming back to Prabhsimran’s outstanding glove work in the first innings, he stunned everyone when South Zone’s middle-order batter Ricky Bhui was there in the middle. Mayank Yadav made the batter to play the shot but it took an edge and went behind the wickets. Subsequently, the wicketkeeper went flying acrobatically to complete the catch.

The cricket fans were elated and in awe of this amazing catch taken by Prabhsimran. They took to Twitter and showered praise on the young wicketkeeper for his marvellous display of wicketkeeping.

Speaking of the match, the game was halted midway in the second innings due to rain. North Zone were in all sorts of trouble as they had lost 4 wickets for only 24 runs in 8.3 overs before rain stopped the play. The play resumed later, and North Zone lost two more wickets, tottering at 50/6 in 17.2 overs before rain stopped the play again.

The star South Zone bowler and sensation of Duleep Trophy 2023, Vidwath Kaverappa scalped first four wickets of North Zone.

Earlier in the first innings, the opening pair of skipper Mayank Agarwal and Rohan Kunnummal stitched a brilliant partnership of 117 runs for the first wicket. Rohan scored 70 runs off 61 alongside the skipper's valuable 64 off 68. Apart from two openers, young wicketkeeper-batter Narayan Jagadeesan also scored an innings-defining 72 off 66 with 4 boundaries and three sixes with the wood.

The pick of the bowlers for North Zone was leg-spinner Mayank Markhande, who claimed two wickets for 53 runs in 10 overs.
