Delhi Capitals (DC) finally registered their first win in IPL 2023. They defeated Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) by 4 wickets at their home ground Arun Jaitley Stadium on Thursday, April 20. However, they struggled a lot to chase down the target of just 128 runs but won the match at last with four balls to spare.

DC's lack of batting came to the fore. After the dismissal of skipper David Warner, Delhi's innings faltered and an easy win became difficult for them. During this, former Indian Cricket Board chairman Krishnamachari Srikkanth lashed out at Manish Pandey on air. He was asked to say something about Manish Pandey by Australian TV presenter Neroli Meadows and in response Srikkanth said that he doesn’t want to talk about Manish.

Meadows: Chikka, a word about Manish Pandey. He hasn’t quite been able to… (gets interrupted)

Srikkanth: Why are we talking about Manish Pandey? I don’t want to talk about him. The guy shouldn’t even be in the team. Let’s talk about Axar Patel, and how he has been in the form of his life and deserves to bat higher.

Meadows: Well, Chikka seems to be pretty clear that he doesn’t want to talk about Manish Pandey.

Srikkanth: No, I don’t want to talk about him. He shouldn’t be in this team. If I was the chairman of selectors, he wouldn't have played

Seeing the situation getting out of control, their fellow commentator Sanjay Manjrekar intervened and started talking about Pandey's cricket journey so far in the cash-rich league. The 33-year-old batter became the first Indian batter to score a century in IPL. In all these years, he played for multiple franchises like Mumbai Indians, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Pune Warriors, KKR, Sunrisers Hyderabad, Lucknow Super Giants, and now DC. He was in great touch when he used to play for KKR, he even played a match-winning knock in 2014 final against Punjab Kings and led KKR to their 2nd IPL title.
