On Tuesday, India beat Nepal by 23 runs in the ongoing Asian Games quarterfinals. India captain Ruturaj Gaikwad won the toss and elected to bat first. The pitch at Hangzhou is a true batting paradise and has plenty of runs in that. They scored 202 runs in their 20 overs.
Opener Yashasvi Jaiswal scored a century in his first Asian Games match as he became the youngest T20I centurion for India and the first Indian to score a hundred in a multi-sports event. Batting first skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad and Yashasvi Jaiswal were off to a fiery start. They made a century-run partnership in just 9 overs. India lost their first wicket in terms of their captain as he departed after scoring 25 runs off 23 deliveries.
Rinku Singh made a debut earlier in the Ireland series and finished the first innings in style along with Shivam Dube. Jitesh Sharma did not have a great outing in the first match. He was out for 5 runs in 4 balls. India directly qualified for the quarter-final as their rank is higher.
Yashasvi Jaiswal shines for India
Yashasvi Jaiswal had a great outing on his test debut against West Indies. He scored a brilliant century on his debut for the national side. He continued that form in white-ball cricket as well. The southpaw became the youngest ever Indian to score a T20I hundred. He is also the first Indian batter to score a hundred in a multi-national tournament. He scored a 100 off 48 deliveries. Rinku Singh at the end played an explosive innings, scoring 37 runs off just 15 balls, which included four powerful sixes, and posted a 202/4.
In response, Nepal was never in the game. They lost wickets at regular intervals. Dipendra Singh Airee was their highest run scorer scoring 32 off 15 balls. Sundeep Jora scored 29 off 12 deliveries. Ravi Bishnoi and Avesh Khan picked up three wickets each. Left-arm pacer Arshdeep Singh picked up two wickets though he was expensive in his spell.
India will face the winner of the Bangladesh vs Malaysia match, in the semi-final. India is the best team in the tournament as they have a lot of experience in the squad.
