Indian cricket will be back in action after a much-needed break from the cricket action. India are set to tour West Indies 2 Tests, 3 ODIs and 5 T20Is, which will be taking place on July 12 with the 1st Test to be played at Windsor Park, Roseau. The players who are selected for the Test series have reached West Indies and will start practising from Tuesday, July 4.

Meanwhile, former India captain Virat Kohli, who was spending some precious time with his family after the World Test Championship (WTC) 2023 final, have also reached West Indies. Kohli was spotted playing Beach Volleyball with some Indian players. Many fans have reacted to it and have asked Kohli to start preparing for the series.

India skipper Rohit Sharma also arrived in West Indies as the young left-hander Yashasvi Jaiswal posted a picture with Rohit on social media after reaching Barbados. Jaiswal was one of the standby players for the recently concluded WTC final where the Indian team had to suffer a 209-run loss against India.

Mohammed Shami rested for the West Indies Tour

However, Jaiswal wasn’t included in the playing XI but this time, it is possible that the 21-year-old might get a chance as India’s veteran Test batter Cheteshwar Pujara was excluded from the Test squad. Ruturaj Gaikwad is also selected for the Test series but it’d be interesting to see who will get his first Test cap.

Talking about the bowling department, speedster Mohammed Shami has been rested for the series. Mohammed Siraj, Jaydev Unadkat, Navdeep Saini and Mukesh Sharma will be India’s four pacers against the Caribbean side. Apart from this, KS Bharat, who has failed to impress the fans with his batting so far, got another chance to prove himself.

India’s Test squad: Rohit Sharma (Captain), Shubman Gill, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Virat Kohli, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Ajinkya Rahane (vice-captain), KS Bharat (wicket-keeper), Ishan Kishan (wicket-keeper), Ravichandran Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, Shardul Thakur, Axar Patel, Mohd. Siraj, Mukesh Kumar, Jaydev Unadkat, Navdeep Saini
