Punjab Kings (PBKS) fast bowler Arshdeep Singh was the hero of their thrilling victory against Mumbai Indians (MI) at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Saturday, April 23 in the 31st match of the Indian Premier League 2023. Arshdeep took 4 wickets with the help of his deadly yorkers. In the final over of the 2nd innings, Arshdeep Singh broke the stumps twice on two consecutive balls.

Interestingly, the cost of these LED stumps is around INR 25 lakhs. By breaking the stumps, he caused the Indian Cricket Board a huge loss. These LED stumps were first adopted by the apex cricket body during the 2013 Champions Trophy. Earlier, they were used in the famous Big Bash League, which held in Australia.

It was used for the first time in 2013 after its success in the Big Bash League. This technology is most helpful for the umpire. LED stumps are, currently, used in ODIs and T20s. The microprocessor in the bail senses the movement. The stumps with bails have high-quality batteries. That's why, whenever the bail is removed from the stumps, automatically the red light lights up.

A brilliant all-round performance by PBKS

Talking about the match, PBKS set a monumental total of 214 runs for MI, courtesy of a wonderful knock by Sam Curran. In response, the five-time champions also scored runs at a good pace but started lost wickets at crucial times in the game. In the last over of the match, MI needed 16 runs to win and Tim David and Tilak Varma were present on the pitch but Punjab fast bowler Arshdeep overshadowed both of them. He took two wickets for just two runs and helped PBKS win the match by 13 runs.

Arshdeep bowled 4 overs and took 4 wickets for just 29 runs. He has now taken 13 wickets in 7 matches so far in this season of IPL and is, currently, holding the Purple Cap as well.
