Team India captain Rohit Sharma is back on the side for the T20I format after 14 months. The Men in Blue are currently hosting Afghanistan for a three-match T20I series, and they won the first game by six wickets. However, the 36-year-old did not have any impact in the first game as he was run out. Next, they will be hosting England for a five-match Test series, and the Indian Cricket Board has already announced the squad for the first two Tests.

After the announcement of the squad, the Indian Premier League (IPL) franchises also provided an update with the players representing the country from their franchise. The controversy arrived after five-time IPL champions did not feature their former captain Rohit in the post but posted pictures of Jasprit Bumrah, KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer. Though, only Bumrah plays for the franchise.

The fans were simply unhappy with the fact they removed the veteran opener from the post. The franchise already faced backlashes after appointing Hardik Pandya as their new captain after he was traded back from Gujarat Titans (GT) for an all-cash deal of 15 crore INR. Most of the fans who were against the decision burnt the jersey of the franchise as well.

Dhruv Jurel gets his maiden call

Dhruv Jurel, the wicketkeeper-batter, has been called up to the Indian Test squad for the first two tests. Mohammed Shami, the injured great bowler, was not included in the squad as he continues to rehabilitate. India batsman Ishan Kishan, who had requested a break during the South Africa tour and Afghanistan T20Is, was not included in the squad.

Rohit will lead the team, with renowned pacer Jasprit Bumrah will be serving as vice-captain. Meanwhile, India has picked three wicketkeepers for its squad: KL Rahul, KS Bharat, and Dhruv Jurel. For the first two Test matches, India named four spinners Ravichandran Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, and Kuldeep Yadav. In addition to its fearsome pace attack, India's strong 16-man lineup comprised Avesh Khan, Mohammed Siraj, Jasprit Bumrah, and Mukesh Kumar.
