Saudi Arabia caused a massive upset on Tuesday as they registered a 2-1 stunning win over the Argentina team in the Group C encounter at the FIFA World Cup 2022. Coming into the big event, Argentina were touted as one of the favourites to lift the trophy.

However, on Tuesday, they suffered a shocking defeat at the hands of Saudi Arabia, slipping against a team that is ranked 51 in the world. Argentina had started on a brilliant note as Lionel Messi put them ahead with a 10th-minute minute penalty following a foul by Saud Abdulhamid.

However, after halftime, Saudi Arabia made a phenomenal comeback as they netted two quickfire goals. Saleh-Al-Shehri netted the first one with a precise low drive from a difficult angle as he got the better of Tottenham center-back Cristian Romero.

The best goal of the day came from Salem Al Dawsari as he found the top corner with a swerving strike from the edge of the 18-yard box.

A video of that particular goal with Arabic commentary has been doing the rounds on social media. Here’s a look at that:

Argentina kept the possession for the most part of the second half but Saudi Arabia denied the equalizer and, thus, sealed the win.

With that defeat, Argentina’s 36-match winning streak came to an end.

What next for Argentina:

Lionel Messi and Co. will now play against Mexico no 26th November 2022 at Lusail Iconic Stadium, followed by another crucial encounter against Poland on 30th November 2022. It is still not the end of the road for Messi and Co. but it isn't going to be smooth ride either from here.
