Mohammed Siraj has raised his bar over the years. He has worked really hard on his skills and adaptability. The pacer's spell against Sri Lanka in the final of the Asia Cup has been the talk of the town for the fans. He has been sensational over the years. The Royal Challengers Bangalore pacer became the second-fastest bowler, in terms of deliveries taken, to take 50 ODI wickets.

In the fiery spell, the Sri Lanka batters were clueless and collapsed altogether. They were bowled out for just 50 runs with Siraj picking up 6 for 21. This was Sri Lanka’s lowest-ever total against India in ODIs. Now, the Hyderabad-born pacer has become the No.1 bowler in ODI cricket.

Mohammed Siraj rises to the top

Siraj has had a superb 12 months by claiming the No.1 spot on the Men's ODI Player Rankings. He returned to India's ODI setup in February last year following a three-year gap without playing a 50-over match at the international level. The 29-year-old is the first Indian bowler after fellow teammate Jasprit Bumrah to secure the top spot in the bowler's rankings in ODIs. Bumrah had reached the first position in July last year after impressive outings against England.

Previously, Deepak Chahar, who is currently not part of the national team, had expressed high respect for Mohammed Siraj by calling him India’s No.1 bowler. He said, "I was watching the match; I was at a practice. Siraj bowled brilliantly. He has been bowling brilliantly since last year, and that is why he is our number-one bowler. We had not won a big tournament for a long time, so it’s good we won the Asia Cup. It will give us a huge boost heading into the World Cup."

In terms of deliveries bowled the pacer became the joint-fastest to complete a five-wicket haul in ODI history, equalling Sri Lankan legend Chaminda Vaas. He became the first Indian bowler to take four wickets in an over in ODI history.  The pacer has the best ODI bowling figures by any bowler against Sri Lanka. He went past Pakistan’s Waqar Younis.
