The inevitable has finally happened as Day 1 of the India vs. Pakistan Asia Cup 2023 match at R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo has been finally suspended. The game will be played tomorrow as there was a reserve day which was kept for this high voltage clash. The rain interrupted the proceedings when the Indian team were on 147/2 after 24.1 overs. But the silver lining of this news is that the Indian team will resume from 24.1 overs and it will be a full 50 overs game starting at 3 PM IST.
Interestingly, there were three umpire inspections which were scheduled, one at 7:30 PM another at 8 PM, and the last one was scheduled for 8:30 PM it was also expected that the India vs Pakistan match would resume by 9 PM for 32 overs for each side but unfortunately the rain returned which resulted in taking this call.

Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill went berserk against Pakistan
In the Asia Cup 2023 Super 4 match, India made an explosive start with Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill forming an imposing 121-run opening partnership. Right from the outset, the opening pair displayed their aggressive intent. Rohit initiated the fireworks by launching a massive six off Shaheen Afridi's bowling in the very first over. Gill, on the other hand, took on India's nemesis, Afridi, and hammered him for three consecutive boundaries in successive overs.
As a result of their onslaught, Afridi's initial figures stood at 0/31 after three overs. However, their formidable partnership was eventually broken by Shadab Khan, who managed to dismiss Indian skipper Rohit Sharma for 56 runs off 49 deliveries, caught at long-off. Afridi also staged a comeback by getting Gill out for 58 runs off 52 balls in the very next over. When the rain interrupted play, Virat Kohli was at the crease with 8* runs off 16 balls, while KL Rahul had contributed 17* runs off 28 balls, adding 24 runs together for India.
