Royal Challengers Bangalore stand-in skipper Virat Kohli was looking in good touch against Kolkata Knight Rider in a chase of 201 runs in match number 36 of IPL 2023 at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. Kohli was taking charge of the RCB batting with wickets falling regularly from the other end. However, on the first ball of the 13th over, Andre Russell dismissed Kohli to give KKR a big breakthrough followed by the splendid catch Venkatesh Iyer at the boundary.
Kohli was batting well after scoring 54 runs off 37 balls hitting seven boundaries. He was also accompanied by Mahipal Lamror as both the batters put up a partnership of 55 runs for the fourth wicket. Lamror got out after scoring 34 runs off 18 balls hitting one four and three sixes. After Lamror’s wicket, Kohli needed to accelerate the innings end tried to keep up with the required run rate. He tried to take on Russell on his first ball of the over, by hitting his short-length delivery toward the deep-mid wicket.
At first, it was looking like the ball would clear the rope easily. But Iyer moved towards his left and got down low to take a spectacular catch. After Kohli’s dismissal, his wife and the Bollywood Actress Anushka Sharma, who was watching the game from the stands left stunned by Iyer’s diving effort. Soon her reaction went viral on social media.
