On Wednesday, in an Asian Games 2023, match Nepal created history as they posted the highest-ever score in T20I cricket. Nepal scored 314 runs against Mongolia in their 20 overs. In the match, two records were broken as well. Nepal’s young sensation, Dipendra Singh Airee broke the long-held record of the fastest fifty of Yuvraj Singh of 12 balls.
He scored a fifty from just 9 balls hitting 8 sixes. With six of them coming simultaneously. During the World T20 match in 2007, Yuvi scored a half-century against England in 12 balls for his fifty en route to scoring 58. In the innings, Yuvraj had also scored six consecutive sixes against Stuart Broad. This record-breaking performance on the world stage will give him some confidence and show his talent and abilities in T20 cricket.
Kushal Malla the 19-year-old left-handed batter also scored the fastest-ever T20I century as he just took 34 balls to reach the 100 runs mark. He broke the record of Rohit Sharma and David Miller. He remained unbeaten with a score of 137 runs off 50 balls.

Nepal openers were off to a decent start they lost their opener Aasif Sheikh for just 16 runs. Their second wicket fell for 66 runs. After that, Kushal Malla and skipper Rohit Paudel made a 193-run partnership. The former scored a hundred in just 34 deliveries hitting 12 sixes and 8 boundaries. He was unbeaten 137 runs off 50 deliveries. On the other hand, the skipper scored 61 runs off 27 balls at a strike rate of 225.92.
At the very end of the inning, the 24-year-old all-rounder hit six consecutive sixes and took their total past 300 runs. The previous record for the highest innings total in a single T20I was held by Afghanistan. In a match against Ireland, Afghanistan had scored 278 for 3 in 2019. Airee has played 44 T20Is for Nepal scoring 1103 runs at a strike-rate of 132.55. He has 21 wickets at an average of 17.95. Malla has scored 320 runs in just 16 T20Is at a strike rate of 180.79 and has six wickets to his name. In response, the Mongolian batters were bundled out for 41 runs.
