Setting an example was my main intention: Hanuma Vihari

On Thursday, the batter came out to bat with a broken wrist again which shows his dedication towards the sport. He also played some powerful shots during his inning. The Indian batter is famous for his fighting knock against Australia in the Sydney Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy back in the 2020-21 series. Later, he also talked about his wrist injury.

“You never know, Even if I faced 10-15 balls, even if it’s 10 runs extra, it would matter. Setting an example was my main intention. If I give up, then the team spirit will go down. But if I go out there in the middle, even if I don’t get any runs, get out the first ball also, that’s not a problem. But me being there and setting an example was important for me." Vihai was quoted as saying by Sportstar.

The 29-year-old scored 839 runs in 16 Tests at an average of 33.56. He smashed a century and 5 half-centuries in Test cricket for India. Vihari has also taken five wickets in Test cricket so far. The right-handed allrounder played his last Test match for India in July this year against England in Birmingham. Vihari proved to be a flop badly in this match. In Birmingham against England, he was able to score only 20 runs in the first innings and only 11 runs in the second innings. He has not been able to return to the team since this match.
