India pacer Jaydev Unadkat is currently playing for Sussex in the County Championship in England. The veteran pacer had a sensational performance against Leicestershire at County Ground, Hove. The left-arm pacer picked up 6 wickets from 32.4 overs to help them edge out Leicestershire in a thriller encounter.

Unadkat was given a standing ovation from the fans after his superb performance with the ball. The Sussex players applauded Unadkat's bowling efforts as he led them off the field while getting a standing ovation from the crowd.

Sussex edges out Leicestershire  

The Cheteshwar Pujara side was invited to bat first after losing the toss. They scored 262 runs in 72.1 overs before being bowled out. The skipper scored 26 runs from 51 balls. Hudson-Prentice scored 65 runs and Salisbury was the pick of the bowlers for Leicestershire, picking up 5-73. On the other hand, Leicestershire scored 108 runs in their first innings, Rishi Patel scored 48 runs off 120 balls. Aristides Karvelas picked four wickets alongside Unadkat who picked three in the first innings.

In their second innings, Sussex declared for 344/9, with Tom Clark and James Coles scoring half-centuries. They scored 69 and 63 runs, respectively. Putting their side in a formidable position. In reply made an amazing comeback, getting 483 runs.

Colin Ackermann scored 136 runs off 190 balls. With Umar Amin who missed out on his century as he was out after scoring 94 runs of 185 balls. In the end wicketkeeper Ben Cox and Tom Scriven built a 117 runs partnership. Even though Leicestershire tried coming back, Sussex won by a narrow 15-run margin.

After his stellar performances in the Ranji Trophy and other domestic tournaments over the past few years, Jaydev Unadkat got a call-up to the Indian Test team at the end of last year. The left-arm pacer made a comeback after 12 years and played his second Test match against Bangladesh in December 2022. Unadkat had a decent outing by picking up three wickets.

In the West Indies tour, Unadkat did not have much to do and returned wicketless as spinners took most of the wickets across both teams.
